The key to sticking with a hobby, enjoying it fully, and letting yourself explore it in an open-ended way is to not try to monetize it.

The new Mac Mini is the first Apple product in a few years that I really want. Everything else recently I could give or take.

I have two creation modes:

1. A good enough 80/20 version will take a fraction of the time I expect, so I need to get out of my head and do it.
2. The best version will take as long as it takes. This mode is all about the process and consistently showing up and making progress.

I might adopt it.
