• Shortcuts (for launching frequently used shortcuts from the shortcuts app)

We were finger painting with Charlie the other day and my wife Amanda started playing around with the brushes and ended up with this. I love it! Such nice texture. She had no plan and it took about 5 minutes. It would take me a month to create something like this with a generative art script in Processing.

After updating to macOS Sonoma last night, I found myself unable to get online this morning. It took me a while to figure out, but the problem ended up being Little Snitch, a reverse firewall. I was running a version that wouldn’t run correctly on Sonoma, but since it was blocking access to the internet for everything I couldn’t update it. I had to go to System Settings > Network > Filters and turn off Little Snitch to stop filtering my internet connection through it, then I was able to get online and run the update.

Didn’t imagine I’d spend Friday night getting water out of my basement. Went and bought a non-submersible pump, but more water seeps out of the ground 25 mins after I pump all the water out. My first call Monday morning is to a guy who can put in a sump for me.

Covid definitely messed up my sense of taste. Very little tastes right to me this week.

If you are making cinnamon syrup, don’t use regular grocery store cinnamon sticks (usually Ceylon or Sri Lankan). Seek out Cassia bark. It makes a big difference in the final flavor.
