One of the things I want to do in 2026 is to cook more beans. It occurred to me a few nights ago that I should try to make at least one bean dish each week.
I started on January 2 with a chicken, wild rice, and black eyed pea soup.
Here are some more ideas:

- Pizza beans
- Cauliflower with cassoulet beans and capers
- Red beans and rice for Mardi Gras
- Cranberry bean and cabbage soup with kale pesto
- Good Mother Stallards with tomatillo salsa, perhaps as a side for carne asada
- Carne en su jugo
- Lima, sausage, and fennel stew
- Succotash
- Homemade refried beans. I need to turn myself a machacadora first.
- Pasta e fagioli
- Mujadara
- White bean chili (good use of our garden tomatillos)
- Charro beans
- Costa Rican Gallo Pinto
- Ribollita
- Escarole bean soup
- Alison Roman’s chickpea stew
- Roasted cabbage and butter beans
- Caramelized beans with tomatoes and cabbage
